Type: Pub/Inn

In the most elegant Georgian city in Britain, Browns Bath is set in a suitably elegant grade II listed Georgian building. Perfectly located opposite the abbey, next to the guildhall and close to the rugby ground, it is at the very heart of Bath’s unique cultural identity.

Browns Bath is a traditional restaurant serving quality food in relaxed surroundings, by friendly staff. With 160 seats, the restaurant was commended by English Heritage for its sympathetic renovation of the former magistrates court in the old Bath Police Station, where parts of the cells can still be seen!

There is also a large covered outside terrace with many tables for soaking up the sun in the summer and the absorbing the bustling city centre atmosphere. Inside the restaurant is spread over two floors. The ground floor and a graceful mezzanine with superb views out of the large window and down onto the bar area. The mezzanine can also be booked for private events for up to 100 people. To find out more about this please visit our website www.browns-restaurants.co.uk/locations/bath

We have a small and refined bar that’s especially popular at weekends and after rugby games when fans like to celebrate (or commiserate) after watching the game at the ground nearby. But it’s also popular with a variety of locals, business people and visitors to the city from Sunday through to Wednesday evenings when we offer our special cocktail promotion from Sunday to Thursday. This is an unmissable opportunity, all of our high quality signature cocktails are just £3.95 each all evening.

Our range of three “skinny” cocktails include the popular Mojito so you can sip away and feel that little bit less guilty! Zesty lime wedges muddled with mint, Bacardi Superior Rum and Agave syrup, topped up with a dash of soda and served over lots of crushed ice. The agave syrup is our “skinny” ingredient; a honey-like syrup alternative to sugar. All the flavour, less guilt.

A visit to eat and drink with us is also an opportunity to see some of the great sights of the city. It’s a fascinating place, as the writer Jane Austen observed: ‘Oh, who can ever be tired of Bath?’
We recommend a trip to the guildhall markets next door, the abbey opposite and of course a visit to the Roman baths. And, if it’s a match day, then head to the nearby recreation ground the most scenic of rugby grounds in this most scenic and rugby mad city. Or if you prefer to indulge yourself, then head to the modern spa for some pampering.

At Browns Bath we believe that food should be satisfying, delicious and rewarding. Our chefs create food with care and passion and we offer a stylish blend of classic and modern dishes, platters-to-share, pasta, salads, sides and puddings. Why not try our cathedral menu and sample two courses for £14.95 ranging from watermelon, feta and hazelnut salad to steak mushroom and Guinness pie.

The atmosphere in both bar and restaurant is entirely in keeping with the city: elegant, slightly genteel, yet lively and cosmopolitan too so come and visit us today and enjoy our food.
