Academy of Ancient Music, with Alina Ibragimova (violin / director)
The talented winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards 2011, Young Artist award, Alina Ibragimova will be showcasing her Baroque violin skills as she makes her debut with the famous early music orchestra, the Academy of Ancient Music. The programme includes two of Bach’s popular Violin Concertos plus works by Vivaldi and Biber.

Florilegium
The acclaimed chamber quartet, Florilegium, will present a delightful ‘coffee concert’ as part of this year’s new Bachfest. This full-length, 2-hour, concert will start at 11am and provide a perfect diversion for a wintery Saturday morning. The all-Bach programme includes The Musical Offering, a collection of fugues, canons and a trio sonata based on a theme by the flute-playing Prussian King Frederick the Great.

Retrospect Ensemble (choir and orchestra, directed by Matthew Halls)
This much-praised newcomer to the British early music scene makes its Bath debut appearance in the new Bachfest. Bath’s stunning Abbey is an entirely appropriate setting for this glorious programme of church music. Four celebrated soloists, including the counter-tenor Christopher Ainslie, will join the choir and orchestra for a performance including cantatas, motets and one of Bach’s short Latin Masses for feast days, consisting of the Kyrie and Gloria. This promises to be a concert of divine music in all senses...
